About the role
As a Weekend Support Worker you will be involved in a wide range of activities. The four young men supported by Hft in Coleford have a range of learning disabilities and can display challenging behaviour. They are very active and we provide 2 to 1 support to encourage them to access the community as much as possible. Our emphasis is on creatively supporting people to live with greater levels of independence and personal fulfilment, to achieve the best possible outcomes.

In addition to supporting them to prepare meals and look after their home, you and your colleagues may accompany them on bike rides or walks in the forest, play football or support them with indoor creative or sensory activities. Your rota will be flexible and will include both early and late shifts across the weekend. You will be given plenty of notice so that you can plan your life around your shifts.

Sometimes it’s challenging, but it’s always rewarding. You’ll go to work knowing that you’re making a positive difference to someone’s life. And you’ll be working in a team of skilled, dedicated colleagues who’ll support you all the way.

About you

You don’t need experience of support work or any special qualifications for this job - you’ll get plenty of training along the way. It’s great if you already have experience of learning disabilities, autism or dementia, but this is by no means essential. What matters most is your positive attitude to life and your desire to support people to live their life with as much independence, choice, dignity and control as possible.

What we offer

We offer a range of benefits and career development opportunities. We’ll give you a comprehensive induction, full training and support along the way. With Investors in People and Skills for Care accreditation we are committed to investing in our teams to ensure they have the specialist skills and expertise needed to support others to live the best life possible.

Join us and help us change lives.
